Person Centred Therapy with Rita Moran

Rita Moran Person Centred CounsellorI provide a confidential and professional counselling service. If you are currently experiencing difficulties in your personal or work life and notice these issues are effecting your physical and emotional well being then perhaps the time has come to talk to someone. I believe in the importance of the counselling relationship so will do my best to provide a safe and nourishing environment to give you the space and support to help identify areas you are finding difficulty with. I have many years experience and have worked with a wide variety of issues for example: - addictions, anger, anxiety, gender identity, loneliness, phobias. You may be feeling depressed and would like to look at yourself and your worries to enable you to gain a greater understanding about what is happening for you.

In my experience when we are being listened to and understood, it helps us to develop a better understanding of ourselves and our relationships with others. Counselling may give you the opportunity to discover new healthier ways of coping and letting go of past experiences and allowing you to move forward with your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained as a person-centered therapist with the Metanoia Institute. Metanoia is committed to exceedingly high standards of training and practice for counsellors.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, (BACP) and adhere to its Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I am also a member of the BAPCA (British Association for the Person-Centred Approach).

I have a first class honours degree in Person-Centred Counselling and a post-qualification diploma in Adolescent and School Counselling. I have also participated in the Align Project counselling research on evaluating Person-Centred counselling in schools and currently counsel in a six form college and schools.

In addition, I hold a practising certificate in addictions and eating disorders. I also hold a practising certificate in CBT as I find CBT can be helpful when dealing with anxiety and phobias. Having trained as a bereavement counsellor at Caris Bereavement Service, I am also interested in cross-cultural counselling and particularly the effects of bereavement on men.

I have experience of working in GP practices and run a private practice at the Angel and Hadley Wood.
